Some sad news to share today - Nizo Yamamoto, the iconic art director known for his detailed and beautiful background painting, has passed away at the age of 70 due to cancer. A Studio Ghibli regular, he was the art director for Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, and Whisper of the Heart--But he was also art director on the Memories short Magnetic Rose, Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland, and Future Boy Conan. You may have also seen some of his exquisite background painting on films like Adieu Galaxy Express 999, Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, Perfect Blue, and the opening & ending sequences to Robot Carnival. There is even a museum of his works located in Nagasaki, Japan. RIP to a true artist of the animation medium.
Ho detto a mio figlio che guardare film fa bene al cervello, non so se sia vero ma penso di si.
